UGI allows membership to all people working in the energy sector and are interested in promoting the development of geothermal applications. There are four categories of members:

• Individual Members (people interested in geothermal energy and renewable sources);
• Corporate Members (Companies, Institutes, Laboratories, and Agencies involved in research, exploration, production, and use of geothermal resources, or that want to promote the use of geothermal energy and other renewable sources);
• Supporting Members (Individual or corporate members if they pay significant one-off contributions, or an annual membership fee for the number of years indicated in the Regulations at least double that established by the Board of Directors);
• Honorary Members (people who, for special merits towards the UGI, obtain, within the limits and according to the procedures indicated in the Regulations, such recognition);
• Junior Members.

The Membership is annual (1 January – 31 December)
